Bwengu village is in North Malawi, Central Africa. (Formerly Nyasaland) approx 470k north of the capital Lilongwe (a 7 hour drive in a truck). It lies on the main M1 road 65km due north of the town of Mzuzu. It is approx 3500 feet above sea level and is surrounded on all sides by mountain ranges. The greater village area, which lies at the end of the Rift valley close to these mountains, has approximately 5000 adults and children. Click here for map
There are 52 villages within the larger Bwengu area. This is the size of Warwickshire. It is estimated there are some 18,000 people who live in these villages.
